SHERLOCK Explores Victorian London in Brand New Trailer

It's tough out there for Sherlock fans. The show films in large part based on the schedules of its stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, who are exponentially more popular now than they were when the show began five years ago. With only nine episodes aired in five years you might think it'd be hard to sustain a fan base, but Sherlock fans are some of the most devoted in the world. Thankfully, they're getting a great Christmas present this year: a new episode that's being referred to as a Christmas special.

PBS has released a brand new trailer, but unfortunately the exact air date remains unknown. It looks like this story might not follow immediately after the cliffhanger events of the third season (or "series," as the Brits refer to them) finale, which — spoiler alert — hinted at the shocking return of Holmes' nemesis, Moriarty. But at this point, I'll just be glad to see these characters again in any context. Let us know what you think of the new trailer:

The stage is set, the curtain rises, we are ready to begin! The Sherlock Special, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, will be coming soon to MASTERPIECE on PBS. #221Back #SherlockPBS
