Jackie Robinson would have turned 97 today, so we're honoring the former Dodger, UCLA Bruin, Pasadena teenager, and all-around hero with some old photos culled from the Los Angeles Public Library Photo Collection. While you're out it check out this eyewitness account of the day that he broke Major League Baseball's color barrier.

Speaking of things that induce inspirational chills, Ken Burns' documentary on Robinson comes out in April. If you're anything like me, this clip alone will make you cry (Barack and Michelle are in it, too!).

So Happy Birthday, Jackie. Miss you.
