Leder joins in on Jones Group buyout

Add Marc Leder to the list of buyout bigwigs circling Jones Group.

The head of Sun Capital has joined the fray as a host of private-equity firms prepare bids for the New York-based shoe-and-apparel company, The Post has learned.

Jones, whose brands include Stuart Weitzman, Anne Klein and Nine West, is soliciting bids for parts of the company as prospects for a sale of the whole firm look uncertain, sources said.

It’s unclear which assets Sun is eyeing, but sources speculate the firm is interested in department-store staples such as Jones New York and Gloria Vanderbilt.

Golden Gate Capital, owner of the Payless footwear chain, is also in the race, with the Easy Spirit as a possible target, sources said.

KKR is mulling a joint bid with Sycamore Partners, with KKR to take the upscale Stuart Weitzman and Kurt Geiger brands, and Sycamore the lower-end labels, sources said.
