Let's Talk Live is excited to bring you Nina Turner!!!!

A rising progressive star in Ohio and a frequent presence on national television, State Senator Nina Turner knows what it means to work hard. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she took her first job at the age of 14 to help her mother provide for her six younger siblings. Nina knows that education is the great equalizer so she worked hard to put herself through school. A first generation college graduate, Nina earned an Associate of Arts degree from Cuyahoga Community College before earning her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Cleveland State University and an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Wilberforce University.

Nina always knew she wanted to be a bridge for those less fortunate and decided to embark upon a career in public service. Upon graduating from college, her first job was as a legislative aide in the office of State Senator Rhine McLin, but she was soon called back to Cleveland to work in the administration of Mayor Michael R. White. As the Mayor’s eyes and ears at City Council meetings, Nina developed a fierce reputation as a fighter for those less fortunate and as a strong advocate for improving the education of Cleveland’s children.

Through constant outreach, Nina became a respected voice in her local community and in 2006, she was elected to be the first woman to represent Ward 1 on the Cleveland City Council. In 2008, she was appointed to the vacant 25th Ohio Senate seat, and two years later she was elected to continue serving the 25th Senate District after becoming widely-respected by the hardworking women and men of northeast Ohio as their voice in Columbus.

For Nina, she isn’t running for an office, she’s running for a cause: the right to free and unfettered access to the ballot box for all Ohioans. S
