Dog mauls, kills 7-year-old Dodge County boy
A 7-year-old Dodge County boy was killed Friday night by a dog.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office said it happened in the Town of Hustisford.
Dodge County Sheriff's Office Lt. Brian Loos told WISN 12 News they received a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. reporting the boy was bleeding profusely.
"At some point our dispatchers began to talk the mother through CPR. Numerous first-responding agencies responded," Loos said.
Despite all the emergency personnel being called to the house, they were unable to save the child's life.
"The various individuals and agencies that were involved in this did a phenomenal job. They were at the scene attempting to save this child's life for quite a long period of time," Loos said.
Loos said the dog was known to the family but would not confirm if it was the family pet or what type of breed it was.
Law enforcement was transporting the dog to the local Humane Society to be put under quarantine.
Loos said the child's death is weighing heavy on his mind as well as the other men and women who tried so hard to bring the boy back to life.
"All these people have children of their own. Some of them have been to other tragic incidents like this. Children are always the worst ones for our first responders to deal with. It's very difficult for them to deal with this," he said.
Loos told WISN 12 News that at this time, there will be no criminal charges issued.
First responders who are having a tough time are encouraged to seek counseling if they need to.
