Isamu Noguchi
(Set 1 of 2 of photographs by Blair Prentice)
Widely celebrated Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988) spent his life creating an impressive variety of sculptures, public installations, gardens, furniture and lighting designs, ceramics, architecture, and set designs. Effortlessly traversing between mediums of expression, Noguchi redefined the role of the artist.
In 1985, the The Noguchi Museum was opened in an industrial building across from his studio in Long Island City, New York. The complex, designed by Noguchi, includes a garden for peaceful contemplation and galleries dedicated to displaying some of Noguchi’s best work.
