Everyone has a bad day. For me, its the consistent poor behavior, especially from those in leadership, that really boils my blood. Interesting study into rude behavior and how managers view those who their colleagues view as rude. "Given the central role leaders play as decision makers in the workplace, it’s critical that they assess employee behavior fairly and accurately. To our dismay, our study discovered a tendency on the part of managers to blame employees for the mistreatment they experience. For those leaders responsible for evaluating others at work, we hope our research reminds you to be more judicious." Your words matter. Your tone matters. And if you're a leader, maybe take a moment to evaluate the behaviors and culture on your teams. Its been proven time and time again, toxic cultures are one of the top reasons people seek new opportunities. And rude behavior, or lack of repercussions for such behavior, only fuels toxicity in the workplace. #hbr #leadership #workplaceculture

We recently had the privilege of interviewing Opella CMO Claudine Patel on our podcast. This story in particular hit me hard. Early in her career at Coca-Cola, she was determined to launch a big, iconic billboard advertising campaign. Armed with every data point imaginable, she fought for her idea, convinced it would be a success. Her boss was skeptical, but Claudine pushed forward... The result? A costly flop. The billboard was so high in the air that pedestrians simply walked by without looking up. It was a hard lesson: data alone isn't enough. You need real-world observations too. But what struck me most was her boss's reaction. Instead of reprimanding her, he acknowledged the mistake but praised her for the learning opportunity it provided. This gave her the confidence to be bolder in her future endeavors and inspired her to give her teams the same gift—the freedom to take calculated risks and learn from them. At OpenFortune 🥠 we strongly believe in the same mantra: Growth often comes from our failures, not just our successes. But to fail, you need to be bold. Great article. We've been preaching this for YEARS at Backbone Media. When we have the opportunity to connect Brand Campaigns with Performance Media efforts, everyone wins. It takes patience and it takes a leadership team that believes in the long term. YETI and its "YETI Presents" film series. YETI's first National TV campaign. Ooni's investment in Pizza Wars and other great pizza-making content. Smartwool's "Do What Feels Natural" campaign. These are all strong examples of connecting Brand Marketing with Performance Marketing. It's clear that when it all comes together everyone wins... DTC, wholesale partners, owned retail stores... We run performance campaigns focused on LTV:CAC ratios and MER with the best of them, but where Backbone Media stands out is connecting Brand Media with Performance Media and thinking about it all as one cohesive strategy. https://lnkd.in/gcFSHw53

As we step into the new year, it's a great time to reflect on the trends, insights and shifts that shaped the last one and think about what is to come.
