For my Honors thesis at Emerson, I looked at how brands hijacked Egypt's 2011 uprising and what the response was from young revolutionaries. The final product was a 60-page paper diving into Egypt's history of advertising, analysis of advertisements echoing the revolution, drawing parallels to post-WWII and 9/11campaigns, and looking at research I conducted on the general sentiment in Egypt around…What does a Snickers bar have to do with former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak?
