YouTube Music is testing a Spotify-like lyrics sharing feature.

Android Central and leak hunter Assemble Debug point out that the feature has started to appear, as shown in this Reddit post. Beyond just displaying lyrics for certain songs, it allows users to highlight specific ones to create a social media-friendly sharing card, just like Spotify does.

Let us know if you’re seeing this in your app.

Do you have to let border agents look through your phone at the airport?

The answer is: it depends. Your immigration status dictates some of your rights to refuse device searches at airports and other ports of entry. Citizens — and in many cases, permanent residents — can’t be denied entry for saying no to a search, but people with visas can. Regardless of your status, we have some advice on how to safeguard your data before traveling.

YouTube expands its auto-dubbing feature again.

Now, all creators in the YouTube Partner Program have access to auto-dubbing, according to a video from YouTube’s Creator Insider channel. The company is working on bringing auto-dubbing to “more creators” down the line.

In December, YouTube said that the AI-powered feature was expanding to “hundreds of thousands of channels” in the program.

Ayn, like Anbernic, is pausing retro handheld shipments to the US.

Unlike Anbernic, it’s not indefinite. “The current plan is to ship to 25th, then pause for a week, and try to choose a new channel for shipping after May 5th,” reads a customer support message from the company via Ayn’s Discord. Ayn currently offers 4PX and DHL.

But what if Ayn doesn’t find a new shipping channel? (HK postal service is suspending US shipments too.) No wonder the retro handheld community is worried about its formerly inexpensive hobby.

Sam Altman will no longer chair the board of nuclear energy company Oklo.

It paves the way for the startup to partner with OpenAI on energy deals in the future, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Oklo is developing a next-generation nuclear reactor meant to be smaller, cheaper, and easier to deploy than a traditional nuclear power plant. Altman and other tech leaders are bullish about advanced nuclear reactors one day powering energy-hungry AI data centers, with Google and Amazon recently inked agreements with other companies developing small modular reactors.

Audi’s first AUDI is the AUDI E5 Sportback.

It looks much like the E Concept presented in Shanghai last year during the debut of Audi’s ringless, all-caps brand for the Chinese market. The E5 Sportback is built on an 800-volt “Advanced Digitized Platform” co-developed with China’s SAIC Motors and features a 100kWh battery capable of 478 miles of range per charge, 3.4 seconds 0-62 mph acceleration, a pillar-to-pillar 4K screen, and a lidar-based driver assistant.

The White House New Media seat’s next inhabitant:

Tim Pool, a conservative podcaster known for spreading covid-19 misinformation, interviewing Kanye West in his Nazi era, and inadvertently being part of a Kremlin-financed scheme to infiltrate right-wing media. (Pool has denied involvement.) While he wasn’t at the White House’s recent Podcast Row event targeted at right-wing content creators, Pool has a bigger opportunity, as The Washington Post’s Dan Diamond reported yesterday:

ICE arrested a Harvard scientist working on groundbreaking cancer research.

Russian-born Kseniia Petrova has been detained since she was arrested at a Boston airport in February for allegedly not declaring samples of frog embryos for Harvard, which recruited her to work on cutting-edge research into aging and cancer detection.

The US faces a potential brain drain of scientists avoiding Trump’s crackdown on immigration and science. A poll of 1,600 scientists by the journal Nature found that 75 percent were thinking of relocating outside the US.

8BitDo has given its Retro R8 Mouse an NES makeover.

First released alongside 8BitDo’s Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard - Xbox Edition last November with a matching transparent green shell, the Retro R8 Mouse is now available in an N Edition with colors inspired by the NES.

Functionally it’s the same as the Xbox version with an included charging dock, four programmable side buttons, and Bluetooth, 2.4GHz and USB connectivity. It also uses Kailh Sword GM X Micro Switches for its primary buttons, and a PAW 3395 optical sensor.

The Retro R8 Mouse is a more ergonomic and functional alternative to 8BitDo’s earlier NES-themed mouse.
The included charging dock is a convenient way to keep the mouse’s 450mAh battery topped off.

Twitter limited Instagram’s integration ‘in direct retaliation’ to Facebook.

After the acquisition, Systrom says he informed his board that Twitter had decided to restrict access to part of its API, which allowed people to find their Twitter friends on Instagram. A Twitter executive “made it clear that this is in direct retaliation to Facebook cutting off the same API access to Twitter. I can only imagine Jack + Dick are also not very happy about the acquisition.”

Their feud also blocked Instagram link previews in tweets until it was resolved over backyard pizza in 2021.

Google could soon add a search bar to Android’s photo picker.

Nearly one year ago, Google said it would upgrade its photo picker with a way to search your local or cloud library to find specific photos to share with an app. Now, Android Authority contributor Kamila Wojciechowska has spotted the feature on her device, hopefully saving you from digging through countless photos.

It’s still not clear when Google plans to widely roll this out, though Android Authority notes that it’s “enabled in recent Google Play System Updates” but not yet on Google Photos.

    Got any summer plans?

Summer is still a few months away, but there’s a new trailer for director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, which looks fine save for the conspicuous lack of Brandy Norwood’s Karla Wilson. The movie’s out July 18th.

Lucky for EU, users there can run Windows 11 on their iPads.

That’s because DMA rules let iPad owners access alternative app stores like AltStore Classic. That opens the door to iPadOS apps with just-in-time compilation (JIT) for modern hardware emulation and running things like Windows 11 on an M2 iPad Air, as YouTuber NTDev demonstrates in the video below. MacRumors has some details on how it works.

Meanwhile, the best I can do is JIT-less Windows XP on an M1 iPad Pro.

Nintendo adds more Fire Emblem to its Music app and Switch Online.

Happy Fire Emblem Tuesday! To celebrate, Nintendo has added the GBA’s Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to the Switch Online Expansion Pack’s catalog. And over on the Nintendo Music app, the sprawling soundtrack to the Switch’s Fire Emblem Engage is now available, but it’s a long one. There’s a total of 182 tracks which will take you 7 hours and 24 minutes to listen to.

Teens think social media is bad for other teens, not themselves.

Pew Research surveyed a group of teens and parents about social media and mental health with predictable results. But this chart is, by far, my favorite, suggesting that Gen Alpha remains irrepressibly optimistic despite everything.
