Woman critically injured in Westside shooting, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was critically injured Monday morning in a shooting on the Westside near Nussbaum Street and Lambing Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The shooting was reported just after 9:30 a.m. and police found the woman with a bullet wound to the leg. She was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

At last update, the woman was in surgery. Her name and age have not been released.

Police said they had no suspect in custody and no description of a shooter.

One woman who lives in the neighborhood said that Nussbaum is normally quiet, but that is not the case with the entire neighborhood.

"The whole neighborhood in general has pretty bad crime rate but on Nussbaum it's quiet very quiet," Emily Cool said. "A lot of kids there. It's quiet. (I'm) scared. Mainly scared because we don't know what happened yet."
