Assurance Program for Sustainable Assessment of Professional Services

Call for Pilot Participants - Sign Up by June 12

NSF International has published the first American National Standard for sustainability in the professional services industry, NSF/ANSI 391.1: General Sustainability Assessment Criteria for Professional Services. The new standard establishes criteria for evaluating the environmental, social, economic and supply chain impacts of professional services providers, including organizations classified as professional service providers by the U.S. Federal Professional Services Schedule (PSS) or NAICS code 54. 

Incorporating a holistic approach to sustainability, NSF/ANSI 391.1 builds on the concept of the “triple bottom line,” which recognizes that long-term sustainability requires attention to environmental, social and economic impacts. 

NSF’s 391.1 assurance program provides comprehensive oversight and supports solutions and integrity in certification body evaluations, program benchmarking, guidance documents, training manuals, continuous improvement iniatives, impact measurement systems and reporting. It also provides a single registry for all certified organizations, case studies and training, research material, marketing and communication material, data collection and management of key metrics. We are currently accepting applications from professional service organizations, purchasers of professional services, and certification bodies interested in participating in the pilot program for NSF/ANSI 391.1: General Sustainability Assessment Criteria for Professional Services. 

Pilot Deadline June 12, 2020

NSF is accepting pilot participants through June 12, 2020.  If you are a professional service organization interested in becoming a pilot participant, a purchaser of professional services interested in aligning and adopting with the 391.1 standard, or a certification body that is interested in becoming an approved certifying body for the NSF/ANSI 391.1 standard, please sign up or contact assurance@nsf.org.
