Joy Fauth, of Portland, got to the Lloyd Center CASH Oregon tax assistance office at 7:30 a.m. on tax day last year so she could be first in and then head off to her job. Tuesday is the deadline to file and pay state and federal taxes. The nonprofit CASH Oregon helps taxpayers prepare and file returns for free; one of its sites is open until 8 p.m. today.Rob Justus, executive director of CASH Oregon, said three of its tax-prep help sites will be open Tuesday for walk-in appointments.
The nonprofit's Lloyd Center site will have 18 IRS-trained tax counselors available. A site in Gresham is open from 5 to 8 p.m.
