Last-minute tax tips: Where to find free help on tax day

Tuesday is the deadline to file and pay state and federal taxes. The nonprofit CASH Oregon helps taxpayers prepare and file returns for free; one of its sites is open until 8 p.m. today.

Rob Justus, executive director of CASH Oregon, said three of its tax-prep help sites will be open Tuesday for walk-in appointments.

The nonprofit's Lloyd Center site will have 18 IRS-trained tax counselors available. A site in Gresham is open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Here's a list of post-office boxes with late mail collections on Tuesday. Only one site in Portland will collect after 9 p.m.
