Oyster Bar: ‘C’ what?

Grand Central’s Oyster Bar is serving “C-food.”

The famed eatery received a C grade on its latest Health Department inspection. The Oyster Bar racked up 31 points after inspectors discovered two critical violations — live roaches and flies — and found that the restaurant wasn’t vermin-proof and plumbing wasn’t properly installed or maintained.

The historic restaurant unveiled its 440-seat dining room just three weeks after the train station opened, in 1913. The establishment’s red-and-white checkered tablecloths have been featured on “Mad Men,” when ad execs Don Draper and Roger Sterling shared oysters and a booze-fueled lunch at the eatery.

Jonathan Young, the restaurant’s general manager, said some fruit flies and dead roaches were found in a basement garbage-disposal area, but the problem had been rectified.

The city gives a C grade to restaurants with at least 28 points and reinspects them within a few months.
