I paid $5000 for the Speaker Formula course which was guaranteed to take a novice and teach them how to get paid speaker opportunities.By the end of the course, the only thing we learned was to get out the phone book and cold call local associations to get speaking engagements. None of these local groups pay anything to have speakers come in.
Mr. Maroney used material and experiences from 10 years ago as the basis for this program. He was also completely unresponsive to emails and phone calls from those who had taken his course, paid him 5k and were applying his ideas with no success.
Total waste of money. If you want to get into the speaking business, go to someone whose name is well recognized.

I have personally taken JP's public speaking course. Over the years, I have taken many public speaking courses from very good teachers. None have been as good as JP's. He is a master of putting together a speech and how to present. His teaching style is top notch.
I have taken many courses with JP and I have yet to be in one where I thought that he didn't over-deliver on the promises he made as to what we would learn.
I certainly got much more out of the course than instructions on how to use the phone book. The complainer must have been sleeping or awol for the rest of the course presentation.
