How We Are Different
Today, most large news media organizations are old, traditionally served, and bloated platforms that fail to engage with readers and to touch on the issues which have the deepest impacts. By engaging with a wide spectrum of the community – from bloggers, activists, academics and more – and offering solutions to various socio-political, economic and cultural issues, Egyptian Streets manages to provide a much more unique and diverse perspective on the region by ensuring the conversation continues offline as well as online.
As of January 2015, Egyptian Streets has partnered with a variety of causes and organisations, including Egypt’s first exhibition for the corporate travel sector, AIESEC, UNDP and others.
Egyptian Streets has also collaborated with numerous non-governmental organizations and activist groups to promote a variety of social issues, including poverty, women’s issues, racism, environmental issues, animal rights, education and more. These collaborations, which have often included the featuring of these organizations’ causes, are aimed at driving social change through the promotion of grassroots movements.
Among the groups which Egyptian Streets has supported or collaborated with are, Earth Hour, Dignity Without Borders, Heya, the Goethe Institut, the World Food Programme, Animal Care in Egypt, Creative Industry 2014, Sinai Reef and more.

Egyptian Streets attracts an average of 600,000 viewers per month from across the globe! Since launching, Egyptian Streets has published the writings of more than 40 journalists, academics, university students, artists and more on its website.
Your contributions will help keep Egyptian Streets running. At the moment, the website is self-funded by its founders who ensure that database and servers are running and that content continues to be produced!
From your contribution, Egyptian Streets hopes to hire a team of four permanent writers and editors that will publish between 5-10 articles per day on a variety of topics. Egyptian Streets will also expand its current sections (particularly Arts & Culture, Travel, Feature and Technology) and introduce new sections, including:
- A women’s section that will cover women’s affairs, issues and how women are perceived in society
- A video section that will include videos from across Egypt and the Middle East. These videos will range from interviews with and coverage of the arts, to highlighting social and economic affairs.
- A business and economy section.
- An investigative reporting section.
Along with expansion of content, Egyptian Streets aims to develop a mobile application that will enable readers to access information wherever they’re.
