Geller and Spencer's cat crucifying lies

18 September 2012: Around 1,340 results websites have re-posted Robert Spencer's claim that Nigerian Muslims are crucifying cats to protest at the anti-Muslim film The Innocence of Muslims. Spencer took down the post after he realised it was a hoax. He took it from Pamela Geller. Over 190 websites have re-posted her post, although she has also taken it down. The source was Nigeria News, a sloppy news aggregation website, and over 5000 websites have re-posted their article, mainly via Robert Spencer. Any responsible blogger would have retracted and explained once they saw it was a hoax. Geller and Spencer simply pulled it with no explanation, no apology. Nigeria News still has the story on its site.

    This is a Google cache of Robert Spencer's JihadWatch site as it appeared on 17 Sep 2012 18:43:01 GMT. He pulled the page when he realised it was a hoax. But not before several people had commented and other sites had linked to it. Spencer credits Pamela Geller for the story.
