In this digital age, citizens expect immediate access to information and streamlined communication alternatives. How can local municipalities meet these expectations and improve operating efficiencies? Find out how at the Government Connext Forum on October 2 when Sustainable Jersey will convene an array of experts to highlight cost effective technologies, share best practices, and release its new suite of actions focused on helping local governments implement innovative technologies and practices to serve and engage residents.

Sessions throughout the day will focus on three subject tracks:

  • Digital government:  Techniques to reach citizens beyond council meetings, engage them in the decision making process, provide access for municipal processes online and crowd source information on community issues and policy suggestions.
  • Open government data and public information:  Methods for towns to keep up with the trend of being proactive in sharing public information, which will in turn will create efficiencies within government and generate cost savings.
  • Emergency communications planning:  Strategies to get important warnings and updates to the public during disasters and other emergencies to make sure the necessary steps are in place and key people are ready to implement your emergency operations plan, and vulnerable populations are identified and kept in the loop.

Joining us as keynote speaker will be Dr. Alan Shark, Executive Director and CEO of the Public Technology Institute.  Dr. Shark is a renowned expert in mobile and e-government, technology trends in government, as well as thought-leadership professional development issues for IT executives and public managers.  He will share best practices for municipalities to save money and become more efficient, while providing new and improved services to the public through innovative technologies.
