EVENT DESCRIPTION
"Kwentuhan: A time to heal from the stories of our skin" is a transformative learning and healing space to address our participation in anti-blackness through our experiences in colonial mentality as diasporic Filipinxs. Community Well and The Filipino Mental Health Initiative-San Francisco is proud to partner with Filipinx identified wellness practitioners, mental health professionals, educators, and community organizers from throughout the Pacific and Southwest regions of the United States to make this event happen. This offering is for a committed cohort of 30 people who are seeking support in:
-Creating space to identify and Name areas of Anti-Blackness and colonial mentality in their lives
-Interrupting and reflecting on the way of thinking about negative interpersonal experiences with Black & African American individuals
-Developing an understanding of the "4 I's of Racism" and how to apply it to our everyday life
-Addressing intergenerational challenges and nuances of holding courageous and transformative conversations; specific to breaking cycles of Anti-Blackness (i.e., social media, avoiding silos)
-Transmuting/transforming experiences to support the wholeness of Black humanity through being introduced to individual and collective healing practices. (i.e., in response to harm, divisions within sectors of the community)
