Awesome Podcast Uncovering The Untold Stories Of SF’s Best Restaurants and Food Shops

This review has been a long time coming! I’ve been listening to Menu Stories ever since it started (can’t remember how I came across it - but am glad I did!) It’s excellent!

The interviewer, Rebecca, uncovers a lot of the untold stories behind some of San Francisco’s best (including some underdogs) restaurants and food shops. Every interview covers a bit of the shop history, general manager and/or executive chef’s history, touches on San Francisco history, and also goes into highlighting concerns and issues the restaurant is facing. You hear about the amazing places that have stood the test of time in a city like San Francisco that has gone through so many changes over the last few decades, that it makes you sympathize and want to support even more your local business.

The stories are personal. Rebecca does a great job at keeping it all very conversational, even when interviewees go into more difficult topics such as gentrification, class displacement, etc…

I’m excited to see how this podcast expands out to possibly other cities, as you definitely get a deeper story of local businesses versus the top of the line/well known places that get their own limelight more easily.
