Host of top Scottish Musicians To Perform At Summer Isles Festival Achitibuie, Ullapool : 26-27 August - www.summerislesfestival.com

Summer Isles tickets @ http://www.summerislesfestival.com/contact/ Summer Isles Festival is an awardwinning two-day event programmed by local musician Mairearad Green that brings the best Scottish musical and creative talent to the spectacular setting of Achiltibuie. And the festival returns on the 26-27 August, for a fifth year, with a line-up including the Peatbog Faeries, Blazin’ Fiddles, Blue Rose Code and Tannara. The Peatbog Faeries are one of Scotland’s best known names in contemporary folk music. Pipes, whistles and fiddle swirl in a blizzard of electronic beats and hypnotic instrumental workouts. 2016 sees their 25th anniversary, following last year’s successful release of their eighth album, Blackhouse, to critical acclaim. The band draws from the deep well of the Scottish tradition, but has also created a distinctive fusion sound. Blending ensemble and solo sets, Blazin’ Fiddles have surpassed all others in capturing the excitement, passion and sensitivity of the music of Scotland’s Highlands and Islands over the last 17 years. With a Blazers performance comes the rare opportunity to hear the different regional expressions from Bruce MacGregor, Jenna Reid, Rua Macmillan, and Kristan Harvey – backed by Anna Massie (guitar) and Angus Lyon (piano).

Each year we grow and aim to add more exciting aspects to the festival, which attracts both local people and those from further afield. It is great to be able to celebrate our community with events for all the family.” The evening concert and ceilidh dance will start at 5pm and with a few short breaks will run until midnight.
