With over 40 albums and a Mercury Prize nomination to his name there is no doubting the quality of this years headliner. Also new to the bill is Blanck Mass, who will be headlining The Skinny magazine’s stage, joined by Leeds alt outfit Vessels, Catholic Action, Birdhead, Fat Goth, United Fruit and Outblinker. The Skinny's carefully curated stage is an ode to the past 10 years, expect a couple more surprises and a mystery guest or two down the line… Alex Roberts, Electric Fields Festival Director said: “To have someone like King Creosote headline Electric Fields in just our second year is unreal, we are so happy to have him leading the line. To have such an iconic musician close the day at such an iconic location is something special.” XFM Scotland’s Drivetime presenter Jim Gellatly said: "The inaugural Electric Fields last year was an amazing experience in a brilliant setting. It was fantastic to see so many emerging Scottish bands fill a festival bill. The booking policy is second to none, and it's the perfect fit for XFM in supporting the incredible new music coming out of Scotland at the moment. I can't wait to return to Drumlanrig Castle!"

And so in May 1993 the first Fling happened. Since then the Fling has gone from strength to strength. Somewhere along the line the first 'Fling by the River' began. Held each Fling Saturday on Dunblane's historic Drying Green, its activities have ranged from an open stage for local young musicians, fire engines, space-hopper races and fire-eating jugglers, to the annual Rotary Club race for 4,000 plastic ducks down the Allan Water. Gradually a 'Fringe Fling' has developed, featuring over the years everything from ghost walks, pub quizzes, plays from the local Drama Group, master classes in everything from fiddling or mandolins to harmony singing or bodhran, and the now-annual Thursday Jazz Night. www.dunblanefling.com
