And in the end do you belive that beauty lies in what you see…

Who remembers Popular?  It was that awfully awesome WB dramedy that lasted two seasons while I was in middle school and high school.  The one that I had to “reserve” the best tv in the house to watch each week.  Yeah, that show.  I loved that show.  I loved it so much that I somehow ended up with season one on dvd, and I am going to rewatch, AND you’re going to rewatch with me.

That’s right.  This blog will be devoted to my rewatching of Popular and any other classic WB shows I deem worthy of mockery.  Why not?  There are blogs devoted to Sweet Valley High and the Baby-Sitters Club.  If we can relive our childhood through books, why not relive some of those so-bad-they’re-so-good WB teenage series?

You may be asking: why am I qualified to share my thoughts on this topic with the world like some type of authority figure?  Because I am an expert.  I was a huge Popular dork, which now that I think about it may be why I was never popular.  I didn’t like Buffy, I watched Seventh Heaven because everyone else did, and I never really got Dawson’s Creek, but I LOVED Popular.  I never missed an episode.  Even when it moved to Fridays.  Even when it sucked, I was a Popular fanatic.  In 8th grade writing class when we had to rewrite a movie/tv show ending, I chose to tackle the McQueen/McPherson nuptuals.

I’m really excited to start watching again.  If you did watch the show when it was on, I hope you enjoy remembering the ridiculous plots and characters.  If you never watched, head over to Amazon and order the first season.  I promise you’ll love it.

  1. Convince me. 🙂 Or strap me down and make me watch the first episode.

Of course, I did like “Dawson’s Creek” after my friend Liz dragged me into it midway, so that may be a bad omen.

  2. 400baran.

  3. We read this wonderful post! Good information!
