The Drawing will be held April 29, 2016 - 9:30 p.m. During our Annual Auction being held at the Cherry Grove Event Center Located in Cadillac.

The 427 Roadster Replica is a kit car that was donated by Gus Meyjes, PT, owner of Dynamic Physical Therapy in Cadillac. The car is being built by the Wexford Missaukee Career Technical Center students and will completed by April 15, 2016 in time for the Raffle drawing on Friday, April 29.
Raffle tickets are $50.00 each and available by connecting with a Rotary Club of Cadillac Member or by clicking on one of those bright orange Purchase Tickets Now buttons. Jack's Journal: Kids Building A Car

In Mr. Mackey’s power sports and equipment class at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center, kids get their first taste of getting their hands dirty. Working on everything from chainsaws, 4-wheelers, lawn mowers the list goes on. But this year the kids are working on something just a little bit different. You see, they are building an automobile! It all started with a local business man’s donation. “It’s a Cobra Factory Five replica. He donated it to Cadillac Rotary. Rotary has then given us the opportunity to build it for them,” says instructor David Mackey. The kit comes with all the parts, you just have to put it together. And the students have embraced the task! “Yep we are the head force of this right now. He wants us to do everything we can. We fall back on him and Mr. Handbright, too. For him, it’s us doing the project,” says senior Tyler Wing. All aspects of the tech center are involved: automotive, heavy equipment. Even the media class is chronicling the process. This is a huge project that has an April deadline, so the students are putting in a lot of overtime. “For a high school kid to give up their Saturday, that’s pretty good. But they understand the opportunity. It’s about fabrication, electrical, mechanical, building an engine, installing a transmission,” says Mr. Mackey. Tickets are being sold by the Cadillac Rotary and the car will be awarded this spring. There is a lot to do in a short time. But the career tech kids are on it, having fun and learning along the way. “The cool thing is they don’t even know they are doing algebra. They are doing geometry by figuring the axle ratio. How they are setting things up, and they don’t know it’s math!” says Mr. Mackey.
