Cohasset, Massachusetts — A Cohasset police officer responded to several 9-1-1 calls reporting a man harassing families and children at Sandy Beach on Atlantic Avenue on Sunday, around 12:50pm. The officer talked to citizens that reported a male “yelling, swearing, and acting strangely” in the Sandy Beach parking lot – yelling about the year 1776 and his Rights being violated.

The officer located the man and asked to talk to him. The man went into a wild tirade about 1776, people wearing masks, and his Civil Rights being violated. The officer was trying to deescalate the situation when the suspect  entered an unknown car driven by an unknown female. He was yelling at the female to drive away from the officer. The officer ordered the suspect out of the car several times. When the suspect finally complied, he quickly exited the female’s car aggressively, and assumed a fighting stance with the officer. The officer drew his TASER and ordered the man to ground. As back-up officers arrived the man actively resisted arrest and continued to yell, scream, and resist officers.

After a struggle he was placed under arrest and charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. He is identified as Steven E. Veator, 51-years of age, 9 Orchard Street, Gloucester, MA. He was bailed from Cohasset Police HQ later in the day and will be arraigned sometime in June by the Quincy District Court.

The female that was operating the vehicle that Veator jumped into was later IDed as an acquaintance of Veator and will be summonsed to Quincy District Court for attaching plates, operating an unregistered m/v, operating an uninsured m/v, and having no inspection sticker. She was identified as Lisa Hennessey, 52 years of age, of Gloucester, MA. Her vehicle, a 2004 Buick, was towed from the scene.
