Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccines get approval for emergency use in India
The decision comes after the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the national drug regulator met on Friday and recommended Covishield — a version of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India — for emergency use approval. The expert panel also recommended another vaccine — Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin — for emergency use approval on Saturday. Meanwhile, a mock vaccine distribution run is underway across states in India.
