Southwest is sending out emails to Rapid Rewards members to extend their A-List status until December 31, 2022, after completing just 4 flights (or 2 round-trip flights) between August 19 and November 19, 2021.

A-List Status Until December 31, 2022 Promotion

It seems Southwest realizes how hard it is for some of its frequent flyers to requalify for elite status. So, Southwest is offering current Southwest A-List or A-List Preferred members the opportunity to re-qualify through the end of 2022. All you need to do is complete just four one-way flights (or two round trip flights) between August 19 and November 19, 2021.

This promotion may be targeted. If you're a current A-List or A-List Preferred elite, check your email to see if you received this offer. If not, you may want to call Southwest to see if you qualify before booking flights you wouldn't otherwise take.

For this promotion, all flights completed between August 19 and November 19 qualify. That's regardless of when they were booked, or if they were booked with cash or points. The promotion is valid on all Southwest flights — international and domestic.

Terms and Conditions

  • All flights must be credited to your Rapid Rewards account to qualify. As long as you are the one who flies, it doesn't matter who booked or purchased the ticket.
  • Flights booked with a Companion Pass, charter flights, reward and group travel, and Southwest Vacations packages are not eligible for this promotion.
  • You should receive confirmation of your extended A-List or A-List Preferred status within 4 weeks of completing your four flights.
  • This promotion is not combinable with other promotions or special offers.

Our Take

This is an excellent promotion to extend your A-List or A-List Preferred Status another year. Earlier this year, Southwest gave away a couple of free months of A-List status to selected members. Plus, all Rapid Rewards members also received a boost to their 2021 A-List status requirements.

If you're almost to your 25 flights or 35,000 points for your 2022 A-List Status, you won't need to take advantage of this promotion. Or you might already be getting your Southwest A-List Status through a status match from another airline.

Just remember that A-List status received through status match only gives you 4 months of the status. To get a full year, you will need to complete 4 flights or earn 5,333 points (same as this promotion) within the first 120 days.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion to extend your status another year?
