BREAKING: Walt Disney World Will No Longer Require Face Coverings Outdoors Beginning Tomorrow

Disney has announced it will no longer require face coverings in most outdoor areas in its parks, Disney Springs, and other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort effective tomorrow, May 15th, 2021.

Universal Orlando Resort made a similar change earlier today after Orange County, FL lifted its outdoor mask mandate.

Disney has updated their “Experience Updates” page to reflect the new guidelines, with the following policy:

Additionally, Disney has offered the following chart showing when a face covering will need to be worn:

Guests will still need to wear a mask when indoors in order to comply with local regulations and CDC guidelines.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

  1. CDC guidelines allow vaccinated adults not to wear masks indoors, and local govt mask restrictions are void in Florida. So they aren’t really following any legal or scientific reasoning. They’re just scared to lift the rules at once. They’ll get there, but it’ll take more time obviously.

    • How are they supposed to know who’s vaccinated and who’s not? Just saying everyone had to wear masks indoors keeps it simpler.

      • We will gladly show proof, trust me. We got the vaccine to gain normalcy. We will definitely want to prove we got it.

  2. So many of us, myself included, have had both Covid immunizations. Many of us seniors and younger with heart conditions, etc., experience shortness of breath and other health conditions and the masks are very difficult! In the heat they are absolute torture!!! I am over 70, but will just have to be miserable because I’m NOT going to miss out on being with my grandchildren making these memories at Disney. We are NOT in a pandemic any longer! Why punish your patrons this way, Disney????

    • We are absolutely still in a pandemic. Disney also isn’t “punishing” anyone. No one likes wearing masks in the heat. This is actually a pretty big step for Disney, and if you’re fully vaccinated you won’t have to wear your mask outside all the time. It’s still your choice to go to Disney.

    • The pandemic is not gone. People are still dying. Remember, people visit Disney from all over the world ,not everyone is vaccinated. Stay Safe.

    • I’m going to Disney and I’m nine 😀😀😀😃😃😃😄😄😁😁😁😄😄😄😃😃😀😄😄😃😃😀😀😃😄😄😄😃😃🙂😃🙂😀😃😄😃🙂😃

  3. Great news. Heading down for a week this Monday! I know they have increased capacity. I hope without any fast pass that it is quicker than when we went in November.

    • Will not just returned wait times or anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes unless u get into park at rope drop !!!

  4. Truly awesome news!!! I’m not coming to WDW until face masks are completely removed but I cannot wait!!!

  5. About time! Finally moving forward. It never made sense to me why you can take your mask off indoors in their ” indoor relaxation stations” but you had to put it right back on as soon as you went back outside.

    • Probably because it was easily enforced. Mask off in relaxation station, mask on outside of that.

  6. It’s always got to be Florida smh! Can’t follow directions and then cry when their state is Covid infested

    • Go live in NY or NJ and see how much you enjoy it. High death rates, still high positivity rates, and tons of restrictions. Stop blaming Florida because you hate their politics.

  7. Only if you’re vaccinated, and even so according to the CDC in crowds you must wear a mask. Disney always has crowds. Let’s not be careless now!! People come frome all over the world, we have no idea who has or has not been vaccinated. Personally I’m not taking a chance, I have my family to think of.

  8. I’m nine and I’m exited to go to Disney 😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

  9. GREAT!!!!!! Hopefully they will drop them on rides soon, and then indoors soon after that. Let’s get fast pass set back up as there are about to be a lot of people jumping to book trips now.

  10. …But will they allow white middle class families to attend since their “training” tells the white cast members to be “less white”?
No thanks. Our very large family that has attended for years won’t go anymore…not that they care.
