Security B-Sides Delaware 2015 Call for Presentations & More
Security B-Sides Delaware is an annual information security un-conference that will return again Nov 13th and 14th 2015.

This form is to collect the details of whatever you'd like to present or do at BSidesDE. Whether it's a talk, class, workshop, activity, contest, village or something else you're excited about and want to share at the conference.

There is no pat down, we just want to have a list in case something you talk about might be too awesome for the public or your employer to watch later. Classes/Events and Villages are usually not recorded.

Final schedule is typically issued after most people have made their travel plans. We need your availability for scheduling of talks and would like to make sure we can include you in any evening dinner activities. Please update us ASAP if this changes.

If you aren't sure, it would be advisable to check who else has presented on this topic recently. If you are the only one that is presently researching this topic kudos!

We like to know what else our speakers have been up to. Seasoned speakers can feel free to limit this to the last few years/major talks. If this is your first time speaking at a conference we're excited about that too! So we can help your first talk be successful, please tell us about why you want to speak or any prior CFP experiences you've had
Are you planning to release any new code, tools, exploits or 0days related to your talk? *
We love hot new exciting stuff and are happy to be your sounding board. However, to avoid issues for you and us, we ask that you engage in coordinated vendor disclosure attempts before releasing any proof of concept or working code to the public that has a strong potential to be misused. In order to be considerate to the venue, Wilmington University, we ask that any public exploit code related to your talk is released after the conference from a network unrelated to the University. If this applies to you please describe your efforts or future plans and any vendor responses thus far.
Projector, screen & VGA hookup is provided. Do you require any additional setup to give your talk? *
e.g. Mic and speakers may depend on room assignment. Please plan to bring your own laptop/tablet/presentation device & its compatible video out to VGA display adapter. If you need an event/village room this is the place to let us know.

Your contact info will not be shared with anyone that doesn't specifically need it for the purposes of conference related communication. It is more important that we have a reliable way to reach you than knowing your actual name if that makes you or an employer feel uncomfortable.

Sponsorship vs Speaking
Acceptance to speak at Security BSides Delaware is based on the value your talk provides to the conference audience.

That decision is made independently from any implied, proposed or agreed upon sponsorship. This helps the conference remain as vendor neutral as a sponsored event can be without losing value to either the sponsors or the merit of the conference itself. In the past employees or representatives of a sponsoring company have been both accepted to speak and rejected from speaking as well as requested to speak.

If the only way you can speak/travel/take off work is to represent your employer that's fine, but please keep in mind what Security BSides is about before submitting your talk. The best way you can positively represent your company is by giving an intelligent talk that provides educational value to the audience about some product or concept your employment has given you expertise on. This can be accomplished in many ways your boss/sales/marketing teams can still appreciate when focused on the training/engineering/thinking side rather than directly on the sales side.

Be prepared to be challenged before, during and after your talk by the audience. Talks that can stand up to questioning are far more memorable  in a positive way than ones that can't.  Hands on education of something that works amazingly well is encouraged, but also expect some unsolicited advice if it does not.

We usually like to give shirts to the speakers as a way to say thank you (assuming shirts make it into the budget). If you would like one, we'd like to make sure we reserve one in your size. Our shirt preferences are Gildan Softstyle 64000 which are similar in style and size to the American Apparel shirts that Woot uses.
