After a very successful inaugural season for the SV Elementary team, SVHA is excited to announce that we will be moving into our second season for 2024-25 - with a new format!

The Elementary team will now be a combination of two items:

1)  Participation in the Summer League at Baierl Ice Complex
2)  Regular season (Fall/Winter) in the ATC Scholastic League. 

This new format is replacing the previous separate summer session and fall/winter season - they are now combined!

Elementary Evaluation Details:

• WHEN: Monday, May 6th
• TIME: 7:00 PM to 8:20 PM
• WHERE: Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale

Please arrive no earlier than 6:15 PM to check-in and receive your tryout jersey. Tryout jerseys must be returned to the check-in table at the end of the evaluation. If your tryout jersey is not returned, you will be charged a fee of $100.00.

participants:

• Players entering grades 3-6 in the Seneca Valley school district during the 2024-2025 school year and birth year 2013-2016
• Players entering grade 6 must be a 2013 birth year (2012 birth year and older are not eligible)

COMMITMENT:

• Tryout fee: $50.00 per player
• Cost: $1,500.00 per player (Goalies pay half!!!)
• Payments can be made in full at the time of acceptance to join the team or can be spread out as follows: $250 due at acceptance plus $125 per month due on the 1st of each month June 2024 – March 2025.
• Payments are made through electronic payment using the Snap! Spend app. SVHA is check/cash free.
• The SVHA Board is exploring ideas for fundraising to help defer costs.
• You do not need to pay the SV Pay to Play fee to play hockey with SVHA as we are a Club Sport.
• A 2024-2025 USA Hockey Number is required for registration.  You can get this number at USA Hockey Member Registration

Equipment & uniforms:

• Players must have all necessary equipment as governed by USA Hockey, including a neck guard and mouth guard.
• Players will be provided with a SV Hockey practice jersey. This will be the “uniform” for the Summer League. (Please purchase a pair of plain black socks in your player’s size on your own to complete the “uniform”.)
• Players must purchase Seneca Valley hockey uniforms (home jersey and socks, away jersey and socks, pants shell) for the regular season. SVHA will set up a date and time to meet with K&B Outfitters representatives at Baierl Ice Complex sometime during the Summer League season so that players may try on the uniforms pieces with their equipment prior to placing an order. The approximate total cost for all of the required pieces is $325-$375. More details about uniform fitting and ordering will be released at a later date. K&B Outfitters also offers warm-up jackets and pants, but they are not required.

summer session:

• The SV Elementary Team will be participating in the Baierl Summer League this summer in the “Elementary Division”.
• Season is May 28th – July 31, including playoffs.
• Game days can be Tuesday, Wednesday, or possibly Sunday evenings.
• Games are held at Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale.
• Season will consist of 8 games plus a minimum of 1 playoff game.
• Games are full-ice, 5-on-5, non-checking, and three 12-minutes periods.
• NOTE: Plan to attend the pre-season Placement Jamboree on Saturday, May 18 (time TBD). Our team will play scrimmages against 3 different teams in 3 periods so the Baierl staff can appropriately separate the teams into competitive divisions.
• NOTE: Players named to the team are not required to participate in the Summer League if they choose not to or are playing with another team, but will not receive a discount on the season fees.

summer practices:

The SV Elementary Team will have practices over the summer on the following dates:

• Wednesday, May 22 / 5:00 PM – 6:50 PM
• Wednesday, June 5 / 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Monday, June 10 / 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM
• Monday, June 24 / 8:00 PM – 9:10 PM
• Monday, July 29 / 5:00 PM- 6:20 PM

REGULAR session:

• The SV Elementary Team participates in the Scholastic League run by the Alpha Tournament Company (ATC).
• Season is October - Mid-March, including playoffs.
• Season will consist of 15 games plus a minimum of 1 playoff game.
• Game days can be Monday, Thursday, Friday, or Sunday evenings.
• Games are full-ice, 5-on-5, non-checking, and three 13-minutes periods.
• Games are held at Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville, Pittsburgh Ice Arena in New Kensington, or the Roy McKnight Hockey Center at Shadyside Academy in Fox Chapel.
• All major tournament weekends for amateur hockey will be bye-weeks.
• SVHA will attempt to host team practices contingent on rink availability. These will be held at Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale.

REGISTRATION/ROSTER:

• The SV Elementary Team roster will include 18 skaters and 2 goalies. SVHA reserves the right to field two teams (possibly with less skaters/goalie per team) if the number of tryout registrants provides enough players/goalies to make this feasible. SVHA will then attempt to split the teams into the 10U (Elementary Team) and 12U (Middle School) age groups and register the teams accordingly with the Baierl Summer League and ATC Scholastic League.
• Evaluations will be limited to 100 registrations.

MORE FUN STUFF:

• Team parties and team building activities.
• The SV Elementary Team will participate in the Seneca Valley Homecoming Parade in the Fall.
• The SV Elementary Team will participate in a scrimmage on SVHA Senior Night in January 2025 and have a team photo taken with the Seniors
• The new SV Hockey Spirit Wear Shop will be open year-round! Look for details coming soon!
• A professional photographer will take individual and team photos during the regular season. These will be available for purchase.
