This year’s theme keeps with the tradition of supporting Philippine art, which resonates with the property’s soul. In partnership with renowned Filipino designer Bea Valdes, the overall concept is centered on a modern interpretation of the Filipino Christmas and its elements. Joining her in this endeavor are multiawarded artist Ryan Villamael and industrial designer Jude Teotico. Bea marries traditional decor with her contemporary vision, as she takes the season’s familiar elements, like the parols and patterns and presents them in a modern way, using native flora and appliques into her décor at Canton Road and Samba, Ryan fuses his award-winning and intricate design philosophy of paper-cutting with silver metal to create this mirror-like Christmas tree that stands before us, a testament and literal reflection of an in-depth look into the traditional patterns from around the Philippines. Jude brings his metal craftmanship to introduce a different take on the traditional Christmas tree, which you can see in other areas of the complex, most notably at Raging Bull Chophouse and Bar. He also brings a metal interpretation to the traditional Christmas wreath at High Street Lounge, integrating steel and native flora, with the Philippine national flower gumamela as its main highlight.
