Thank you to all who submitted a story idea! We will announce the results by September 26, 2016.
--
Submit your idea for a chance to earn $300 by writing a 1,000-word article for publication on the All About Birds website or Living Bird magazine. Deadline for ideas: September 19, 2016.
How it Works:
If your idea is selected, you’ll work with editors from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology during the fall semester, attending three one-hour workshops on science communication along the way. Submit your finished story by January 23, 2017.
You’ll receive $300 when your story is published on the All About Birds website and/or in Living Bird magazine.
Even if your story is not selected, you’ll be invited to attend the workshops!
What are we looking for?
• Science writing that relates to birds in some way, written by Cornell undergraduate and graduate students.
• The story should capture the imaginations of people who are interested in and curious about birds but who may not have a background in science or birding. It must include recent scientific insights involving birds.
•You can feature any researcher or base the story on personal experience, but if your own research is not very far along yet, you should use your experience as a springboard to delve into other researchers’ work.
• Multimedia components are welcome but not required.
