McDonald's has re-opened six drive-thrus across Wigan and Leigh today.
The fast food giant announced that six of its drive-thrus were among hundreds that reopened today across the UK after they were shut during the coronavirus lockdown.
But some remain of its restaurants remain closed- including Standishgate, in Wigan, and Bradshawgate, in Leigh.
Customers will only be able to choose from a limited menu of items, with just one order per vehicle and purchases capped at £25.
The drive-thrus across Wigan and Leigh that opened today are at:
Gower Street, Wigan
Marus Bridge Retail Park, Wigan
Taberner Street, Platt Bridge
Morris Street, Scholes
Parsonage Retail Park, Leigh
Tydesley Road, Atherton
It is more than two months since McDonald's decided to completely shut all of its UK restaurants as the coronavirus outbreak worsened.
In May, the chain announced that it would be reopening 15 restaurants for delivery only.
Yesterday, 68 of McDonald's UK branches reopened, including four in Bolton with reports of waits of up to an hour-and-a-half at one McDonald's in Astley Bridge as hundreds of drivers queued up to get their fast food fix.
All 924 drive-thrus in the UK will reopen by tomorrow (June 4) in line with government guidelines and with strict social distancing measures in place.
Announcing the changes, McDonald's said: "This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants.
"Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."
