Link and QR Code planning
bitly-links-and-codes-planning
Give it your URLs and channels and get a full plan of titled, tagged links and QR Codes on your domain. Nothing is created until you approve it.
Turns a campaign’s destinations and channels into a matched set of Bitly links and QR Codes. Before it suggests anything, it checks your account: your preferred domain, the tags and naming you already use, how your past QR Codes are styled, and what your plan includes. Then it shows you one proposal table and waits for your OK.
Try asking
- Set up links for our fall webinar at yourbrnd.co/webinar for LinkedIn, email, and Instagram, plus a QR Code for the event flyer.
- Preview only: campaign links for our Black Friday sale across paid social, email, and SMS.
- Use our team conventions: titles start with the campaign name, and every link gets the q4-launch tag.
- Add a QR Code to the email link we made yesterday.
What you get
A proposal with one row per channel: destination, title, tags, the full short link with a readable back-half, and QR Code styling. After you approve, a copyable table of the created links and QR Codes with their status.
Good to know
- It checks back-halves against your existing links before suggesting them, and keeps channel names out of the short link. UTMs on the destination tell channels apart.
- Custom domains, custom back-halves, UTM Builder, and QR Code styling depend on your plan. It checks the current Bitly pricing page and tells you what’s included.
- If a QR Code fails after its link is created, it keeps the link and retries only the QR Code.

Performance report
bitly-performance-report
Ask how a campaign or workspace is doing and get a leadership-ready report with a trend chart, top links, insights, and next steps.
Pulls your Bitly results for the dates and links you name, compares them with the period before, and writes a standalone report. It covers clicks and QR Code scans, top links, countries, cities, devices, operating systems, traffic sources, and AI traffic from assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.
Try asking
- Give me an August performance report for our marketing group.
- How is the fall-launch campaign doing this month?
- Compare August and September, and explain what drove the change.
- Prepare a short leadership brief on bitly.is/fall-webinar clicks last week.
What you get
The most important finding first, then key totals, a clicks-over-time chart, prioritized insights with the numbers behind them, and recommended next moves. Country, device, and traffic source tables follow as supporting detail. Available data varies by Bitly plan.
Good to know
- Quick questions such as “how many clicks yesterday” get a direct answer, not a full report.
- Clicks, scans, and AI traffic are reported separately. Workspace AI traffic covers a fixed 90-day window.
- The chart appears when your AI assistant can display charts. Otherwise you get the same data as tables.
- It reports clicks and scans only. It doesn’t claim sales or ROI.

Account snapshot
bitly-account-snapshot
See your plan, workspaces, domains, default settings, and link, QR Code, and Page counts in one read-only overview.
Reads your Bitly account and summarizes how it’s set up: your plan, the workspaces you can access, your domains and which one is set as the default, and how many links, QR Codes, and Pages you have. It only reads. It never changes a setting.
Try asking
- What does my Bitly account look like?
- Give me an account overview of our marketing group.
- Which custom domains do we have, and is our default domain set up correctly?
- How many links, QR Codes, and Pages are in this workspace, including archived ones?
What you get
A short summary, then compact tables for plan and access, workspaces and defaults, domains, and asset counts. It flags anything worth fixing, such as a branded domain that isn’t set as your default.
Good to know
- Counts include archived items and leave out deleted ones.
- It doesn’t include clicks or top links. Ask for a performance report for those.
- If you have more than one organization, it keeps their plans and counts separate.
Archive old links and QR Codes
spring-2025 with no clicks or scans in the last 90 days. Show me the list, then archive them once I confirm.Old campaigns out of your way.

Link cleanup
bitly-link-cleanup
Fix titles, tags, destinations, and archive status across the links already in your account, with a preview of every change.
Reviews the links you choose and proposes exact fixes: consistent titles, the right tags, new destinations when a page moves, and links to archive. You see the current and proposed value for every change, and nothing changes until you confirm.
Try asking
- Clean up the links tagged spring-sale. Make the titles and tags consistent.
- Our pricing page moved from /pricing to /plans. Update every link that points to it.
- Suggest links to archive from last year’s campaigns, and tell me why.
- Add the q3-webinars tag to these five links without removing their other tags.
What you get
A proposal table with current and proposed values and the reason for each change. After you approve, a per-link results table showing what was updated, already matched, skipped, or failed.
Good to know
- Archived links keep working. Archiving hides a link from most views, and printed QR Codes keep scanning.
- It changes titles, not the short link itself, and it never deletes links.
- Changing destinations depends on your plan. It flags links with dynamic routing or QR Codes before changing where they point.
