Developing New Features With You in Mind

Another quarter has passed and the Bitly teams have been busy delivering awesome new features for all of you, our amazing customers. From platform redesigns to fresh integrations and a new price plan, we have a little (or a lot!) of something for everyone!

Do More with the Bitly Connections Platform

At Bitly, we love helping you make meaningful connections with all of your customers, audiences, and followers. We REALLY love helping you do that with simplicity and efficiency. We’ve made several updates, many based on your feedback, so read on to find out what we’ve been up to.

The Connections Platform Got a Makeover

The Connections Platform—your single space to shorten links, create QR Codes, curate your Link-in-bio, and manage and track performance—got an updated look and feel. The biggest change you’ll notice is a brighter, lighter color palette for more accessible viewing, no matter the type of device you’re using. On top of that, we’ve improved navigation and put the most frequently used pages right up front. Check out all the new features and meet the team behind the updates!

The ability to delete links has been one of our most frequently requested features. We’re happy to tell you that you can now delete any non-customized link! In other words, any link that does not use a custom domain or does not have a custom back-half can be deleted.

Delete with caution, though. Once you hit delete, that shortened link is gone; anyone trying to use it will find that the link doesn’t lead anywhere. If that thought starts to give you the cold sweats, consider using a redirect instead.

Get Colorful with QR Codes

As QR Codes increase in popularity, so do our features. We have some BIG ones for you: Colors, logo uploads, and the option to save all those customizations for the Core plan and above!

Customize to your heart’s content knowing those changes will still be there when you log back in. No more having to recreate your brilliance or searching for the last time you downloaded that QR Code for your customization.

Developers: Create QR Codes at Scale Through the API

For all of our developers out there, learn how to build QR Codes at scale through the Bitly API with our new developer site tutorial for QR Codes. For more information on how to integrate with our API, where you can programmatically use Bitly products wherever you want them, check out our developer page!

Do You Have The Time?

Last but not least for the Connections Platform, we ditched UTC times and now display all timestamps in local time.

Wait, what’s UTC time you might ask? Exactly. UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time and was the time standard we displayed in the Connections Platform. We made the change to display local time instead based on your feedback. We heard you loud and clear… UTC just made you feel Utterly Time Confused.

Go Mobile with the Bitly Mobile App

We’ve made some fresh updates to the Bitly mobile app to help you with the creation, management, and performance metrics for all your shortened links and QR Codes, wherever you might be.

That’s right, we said QR Codes! You can now create, edit, and share QR Codes from the palm of your hand with a few simple taps. Review the essential functions or jump right in and download our Bitly mobile app today from the App Store or Google Play!

Did You Hear About the Bitly Annual-Only Core Plan?

On top of a host of great new features, we also added a new plan to the Bitly family!

As you enter one of the busiest times of the year, you might be asking yourself: Is the Bitly Free plan going to meet all of my needs for the holiday season? What if I run out of links? Don’t stress! We’ve got your back with our new Starter plan. It’s the just-right solution that balances performance, cost, and functionality—the key to unlocking growth. Whether you’re a small business, an educator, a content creator, or simply want to use a custom back-half for every person you send an e-card to, the Core plan is the one for you. You get more short links to use for custom back-half links and for your Link-in-bio, as well as more QR Codes. You also get three redirects per month to help make your links evergreen. And, you gain access to our world-class support team!

The annual Core plan is more robust than the Free plan, giving you flexibility and support where you need it most. Sign up and start growing your connections.

We Have You Covered

Our Trust and Safety team has been diligently working behind the scenes to ensure the safety of every link. Read what they’ve been up to and discover more about how Bitly approaches trust and safety.

Don’t forget that you never have to wonder what’s behind a Bitly short link. Copy and paste the link with a plus (+) sign at the end into any browser and a page will come up that tells you the destination of the link. This is especially handy for links that don’t have a custom back-half or links that don’t use a custom domain.
