Making healthy choices convenient and easy

Founder and CEO of Daily Harvest, Rachel Drori, is no stranger to shaking things up. The team at Daily Harvest has been disrupting the food industry with their range of offerings made from farm-frozen ingredients since 2015. Daily Harvest aims to remove the roadblocks to healthy eating—they believe people shouldn’t have to sacrifice eating nourishing food for the sake of convenience—so they create clean food that is always ready whenever you are.

“Our mission has always been to take care of food, so food can take care of you. We want to make it easy for everyone to make healthier choices in a way that’s convenient for them and that fits their lifestyle.”

Whether you’re looking for a healthy snack or planning out your meals for a busy week, Daily Harvest has a little something for everyone. And while they may have reached success as a direct-to-consumer brand by offering up everything from smoothies and harvest bowls to flatbreads and bites, expanding beyond their online community gives Daily Harvest the opportunity to make an even bigger impact.

Bringing farm-frozen food to grocery stores near you

When it came time to make the foray into retail and bring their food to grocery stores across the country, a new challenge arose for the brand—how do you introduce these products to shoppers who may not be familiar with the Daily Harvest brand? Courtney and her team turned to Bitly QR Codes to make it easy for customers to learn about the company’s mission and inspire them to give it a try.

Daily Harvest recently teamed up with Kroger, a grocery store giant in the United States, to bring an array of Daily Harvest essentials right to your neighborhood. With 1,100 grocery locations around the country, customers can now stock their freezers with nourishing foods from the brand and start incorporating more fruits and vegetables into their daily routines.

“Our launch into Kroger was the first time that we’ve been sold in grocery or retail stores, so we wanted to make sure that we introduce shoppers to our brand in a memorable way.”

When it came to making the most of their first launch into the retail world, Courtney and her team knew that leveraging Bitly QR Codes would be a key ingredient to success. Yet, they wanted to do more than just offer up a coupon—they wanted to create a memorable brand experience and leave a lasting impression on potential customers.

In order to give customers a taste of what the brand has to offer and highlight its commitment to sustainability, Daily Harvest has strategically incorporated Bitly QR Codes onto clings on freezer doors across Kroger stores so shoppers can scan to learn more. These QR Codes serve as a window into Daily Harvest’s brand, products, and sustainability efforts, allowing customers to not only make informed choices but also be part of a worthy cause. For every person who scans and engages with the QR Code, Daily Harvest donates five additional dollars to accelerate their work in supporting regenerative farms.

“There’s not a lot of incentive for customers to type in a URL while they’re standing in the aisle. But with Bitly QR Codes, we were able to easily point people directly to our values and share what makes Daily Harvest special.”

By using Bitly QR Codes, Daily Harvest is able to introduce new customers to their farm-frozen food while also highlighting the philanthropic commitments of the brand—all with the quick scan of a code. By helping customers understand the brand’s values, and the thought and work that goes into the items behind the glass door, they are more likely to make a purchase in-store.

Encouraging loyalty and boosting referrals with Bitly QR Codes

Knowing that Bitly QR Codes are powerful tools for connecting customers from physical to digital worlds, Daily Harvest isn’t limiting their use of Bitly QR Codes to just grocery stores. Customers who purchase products directly from Daily Harvest through their website are able to select a plan and delivery schedule that works best for them and have items shipped to their doors.

In order to connect with customers right in their homes, Courtney and her team have printed Bitly QR Codes directly onto packaging to share in-depth ingredient information about each product in their order. Customers can also explore the full range of Daily Harvest offerings and even easily add new products to their next box—all from a single scan.

Taking their commitment to convenience one step further, Daily Harvest is utilizing Bitly QR Codes printed on shipment inserts to easily facilitate referrals. Customers who receive deliveries in the mail can simply scan the QR Code and send a unique referral link to a friend or family member, introducing them to all the products Daily Harvest has to offer.

“We put cards with Bitly QR Codes printed on them into shipments sent out during peak seasons, when we’re driving a significant volume of orders, so customers can easily scan and refer our products to a friend.”

This approach not only enriches the customer experience, but it also helps the brand reach more people who may be interested in exploring their chef-crafted products made with sustainably sourced fruits and vegetables—it’s all part of their commitment to making healthy, convenient food options more accessible to their customers.

Making more informed decisions with Bitly QR Codes

Daily Harvest’s innovative use of Bitly QR Codes goes hand-in-hand with its commitment to data-driven decision-making. Courtney and her team actively monitor the performance of these codes, with a specific focus on geographic data, to understand their effectiveness and make more informed decisions about their placements.

The team at Daily Harvest looks at the Bitly QR Code data behind their freezer wrap placements at Kroger stores across the country to identify which locations are driving the most engagement and which could use improvement. This gives them the opportunity to fine-tune their in-store marketing efforts and ensure that the wraps are consistently and effectively being utilized by each store.

“We know that with retail executions like this, you’re reliant upon each individual store actually putting the wraps on the freezer doors, and sometimes, that doesn’t happen. With Bitly QR Codes, we were able to look at the scan data and identify which stores we needed to reach out to.”

Beyond leveraging geographical data, Courtney also noted that they’re taking advantage of the flexibility of Bitly QR Codes and replacing the pages each QR Code links to when necessary. For time-sensitive campaigns, they’re redirecting printed QR Codes to landing pages where customers can still learn more about their products or interact with the brand long after the initiative has concluded.

“We can easily add Bitly QR Codes to print materials and then change the destination we point viewers to whenever we need to. If we put something out there that’s more static, we lose that flexibility.”

Connecting with health-conscious customers everywhere

Daily Harvest is continuing to explore how they can use Bitly QR Codes to enable conversations and enhance customer experiences. Whether that’s leveraging QR Codes to initiate customer conversations or pointing people to special rewards and discounts, Daily Harvest is thinking creatively about how they can connect with customers both in-store and at home.

With the power of Bitly QR Codes, the possibitlyties for customer connections are endless for Daily Harvest.
