Bitly ❤️s Interns: Happy National Intern Day! Know the Bitly Interns

At Bitly, Interns are valued and integral members of the team. Bitly Interns bring a fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and energy and enthusiasm that makes us just a Bit better. Happy National Intern Day to all the interns shaking things up out there, but especially to Bitly’s very own Summer 2022 Intern Cohort!

Varsha Iyer, Product Design Intern
How did you find out about Bitly?
bit.ly links on Instagram and used by my school’s organizations.

Advice for companies on how to host meaningful internship programs?
Be sure to make interns feel welcome and supported and that their ideas and thoughts are equally as important. Provide interns with an experience that they’re able to use and talk about to further their careers and make them successful in pursuing new opportunities.

Stevie Amborise, Front End Engineering Intern
What can we find you up to on the weekends?
Anything that fills up my soul, and keeps me in a healthy community with my loved ones. That can range from time alone, reading, writing, making music, hanging with friends, being outdoors, etc.

What is the most important thing you have learned during your Bitly internship?
That I need to be bolder in spaces where I can’t break anything.

Nate Brown, Back End Engineering Intern
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully, a senior engineer making meaningful contributions to a company (like Bitly) whose values I support.

What has been your favorite part of the internship?
Having my mind blown by the scale at which Bitly operates.

Sarthak Sheladia, Product Management Intern
What is your favorite part of working at Bitly?
Culture – Everyone is super helpful and willing to answer any questions we may have. As an intern, I feel amazing being able to fully own my capstone projects and truly practice the life of a PM.

What is the most important thing you have learned during this internship?
Staying true to myself and bringing my own unique perspective to the discussions in our meetings.

Ange Louis, Back End Engineering Intern
What is the most important thing you have learned during your Bitly Internship?
The most important thing I have learned is that it’s okay to reach out to people if you don’t know something. It isn’t a reflection of your skills or how people will perceive you. In fact, people want you to reach out to them to help you in solving your problems.

What’s your hidden talent?
I am really good at memorizing song lyrics

Will Frimel, Product Management Intern
Advice for companies on how to host meaningful internship programs?
Help the interns feel valued by putting them in the position to actually contribute

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you pick and why?
I’d love to live outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Beautiful scenery, slow-paced lifestyle, and great people!

Maddie Annison, Back End Engineering Intern
What has been your favorite part of the internship?
Getting hands-on industry experience with a company that prioritizes my learning and growth, both technically and professionally. I went into software engineering because I wanted a career in which I would be challenged every single day while constantly learning, and Bitly has
been a great example of this.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I will have graduated college and be working at a company (Bitly, perhaps?) doing what I love in software engineering!

Katie Im, Product Design Intern
What is your favorite part of working at Bitly?
The community and work-life balance. Even though the internship is remote I feel super connected to the various teams I’m on because we’re chatting on Hangout or Slack. Also with recharge week and summer Fridays you can tell Bitly really prioritizes a healthy work-life balance.

What can we find you up to on the weekends?
Concerts, going to new restaurants/bars, and just being outside!
