Access Link Data Generated Outside of bitly

Several Twitter clients allow users to enter their bitly credentials so they can get personalized tracking data. Tweetdeck, Twitterfeed, and Seesmic let registered bitly users enter their API Key. This allows users to see click totals and other tracking data about their links.

  • Tweetdeck:

    In the application, go to Settings/Services and under “bitly” select “Get Your API Key”. You must have a bitly account and be signed in for this to work.
  • Twitterfeed:

    From your Dashboard, either edit an existing feed or create a new one. Next to “Shorten Link Through: bitly”, select “bitly settings”. In the fields, enter your API Key.
  • Seesmic

    In the application, select the gear icon at the bottom left corner. Under Services select “http://bit.ly” and enter your Username and your API Key.

Mobile bitly

There’s a simple mobile version of bitly available at m.bitly.com, great if you need to access bitly links you’ve saved for later. If you’re a Blackberry user, one of our partners has cooked up something here.
